First Aid at Work is a comprehensive training course designed to equip delegates with the practical skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to respond effectively to workplace accidents and medical emergencies. Meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, this course prepares designated first aiders to manage a wide range of incidents, helping businesses create a safer working environment and ensuring casualties receive prompt and appropriate care.

Who This Course Is For

Suitable for employees who have been nominated as workplace first aiders, as well as supervisors, managers, and anyone responsible for health and safety within their organisation. Particularly relevant for construction, manufacturing, warehousing, engineering, hospitality, retail, care, and office-based environments where trained first aid provision is required.

  • The role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider

  • How to assess emergency situations and prioritise actions

  • Managing unresponsive casualties safely and effectively

  • Adult CPR techniques and life-saving interventions

  • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Recovery position and casualty monitoring

  • Recognition and treatment of choking incidents

  • Managing severe bleeding, shock, burns, and scalds

  • Responding to heart attacks, angina, strokes, asthma attacks, and anaphylaxis

  • Treatment of fractures, sprains, strains, and head, neck, spinal, and chest injuries

  • Recognising and managing diabetes, epilepsy, poisoning, and other major illnesses

  • Incident reporting, casualty care, and post-incident procedures

Course Format

Delivered in person over three days, this course combines classroom learning with practical demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and realistic workplace scenarios. Delegates are continuously assessed throughout the programme through practical activities and knowledge checks, helping to build confidence and competence in responding to real-life emergencies.

Certification

Delegates who successfully complete the course receive a nationally recognised Level 3 First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for three years.
